The Helen Chamber of Commerce runs the official Helen Oktoberfest. It bills the event as the longest-running Oktoberfest in the United States, and 2026 is the 56th annual. Everything happens at the Helen Festhalle, 1074 Edelweiss Strasse, in downtown Helen.

Admission & tickets
As posted by the Helen Chamber for 2026 ("subject to change"):
- Monday–Thursday: adults $10; kids 6–12 $5; under 6 free
- Friday or Saturday: adults $15; kids 6–12 $7; under 6 free
- Friday/Saturday pass: adults $25; kids 6–12 $12; under 6 free
- Sunday: free admission
- Active and retired military: free with military ID; veterans get a discount
Good to know: there are no advance tickets unless your group has 25 or more people (see the Chamber's group tickets page), so most visitors pay at the door. IDs are checked at the door for everyone, and the Festhalle is smoke-free. The Chamber's site also has the band schedule and food menu.
Getting there from Blue Ridge
Helen is about 50 miles from Blue Ridge, which route planners put at roughly an hour to an hour and a quarter, much of it on two-lane mountain highway. Oktoberfest overlaps with leaf season, so weekend traffic into Helen can add a lot more. Leave early, and don't plan to drive the mountain roads back after drinking. Pick a designated driver or stay the night in Helen.
Parking
The City of Helen publishes a city parking map showing its public lots, and there are private pay lots around downtown as well. The city doesn't post lot rates online, so read the sign at the lot entrance before you pay. Saturdays fill first; arriving early, or choosing a weeknight, makes parking much easier.

Tips for a good night
- Pick a weeknight if you can. October runs nightly, and Monday–Thursday admission is lower than Friday and Saturday.
- Sunday afternoons are free (1–7 p.m.), which makes them an easy way to try it with kids.
- Bring ID for everyone, including adults who look nowhere near 21.
- Make a day of it. Anna Ruby Falls, Unicoi State Park and the wineries south of town are all close. See Helen things to do.
Traveling with a dog?
We travel with our corgi, Charlotte, so we checked: the Chamber says no pets are allowed at the Festhalle. Service animals trained to aid a person with a disability are welcome, but emotional support animals are not. If your dog is along for the trip, plan where they'll stay, and check your cabin's rules about leaving pets alone before you head out.
